Last generating a stir back in October 2021, Philippine collector RVS Fishworld recently shared tantalising images of a new batch of Circled Dragonets, one of the rarest species in this group of mysterious and bizzare fishes.
Seldom seen by divers, and even less in the aquarium hobby, Synchiropus circularis is unique in having a bold pattern like a green or spotted mandarin, but with more subtle colouration that helps it to blend into it’s natural environment.
As Jake Adams did in his article here, we hope these specimens may make it into the hands of someone in the UK who can potentially breed them commercially, as has been done with other species in the group.
